Ground Breaking, a False Prophet, and an Upcoming Trip

"Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain."
Psalm 127:1a

Daniel opened the ground breaking ceremony with this verse on Wednesday morning as we stood within the boundaries of the site. I imagined the house that would someday occupy the very ground where we gathered, thinking of the ministry that would happen within its walls. But even more than that, I thought of the ministry that is happening through this construction process. It's easy to see ministry happening at GSF through obvious acts such as daily devotions, counseling the children, and feeding the poor. Yet the ministry is not isolated to these events; it penetrates every aspect. For Daniel, the house is merely a byproduct of things greater: evangelism, training, discipleship. My prayer is that His name is made known loud and clear through the construction of this house. In fact, it's happening already. It happened yesterday as Daniel sat down with two Muslims to discuss aggregate, and it happened this morning as Daniel interviewed a man applying for the job who is eager to use share God's word with fellow workers, whether it's during morning devotions or out on the job site. May the Lord build this house, and may His name be lifted up throughout the entire process. It's very exciting that Daniel and his crew were able to break ground on Wednesday. You can go ahead and praise God with us regarding the progress!

On Sunday morning, we had a visitor at Light of the World church who invited himself to share a prophecy with the congregation. False prophets are common in the churches or Uganda, and by the end of his prophecy, it was pretty apparent that this visitor was no exception. Afterwards, the pastors met with the visitor and quickly realized that not only was he a self-declared prophet, but he also did not know the Gospel. By the end of the meeting, the visitor accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and desires to become a member of Light of the World. Praise God for this amazing testimony!

Daniel and I are heading to Nigeria in exactly a week! We're thrilled for this opportunity to visit with his family, church, and friends. I was able to get a visitors visa for Nigeria here in Uganda and plan to adjust my status to Niger-wife while we am there. As you may know from the news, Nigeria is suffering attacks from Boko Haram, an Islamic terrorist group. This article is a helpful review of what's going on lately: http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/missing-nigeria-schoolgirls/bloody-toll-boko-haram-behind-deadliest-killing-spree-9-11-n130206. Please be praying for Nigeria, not just during our trip there. If you're wondering, the construction project will continue during Daniel's absence. Daniel has someone lined up to supervise while we are away.

Summary/Prayer Requests:

1) Praise God that Daniel and his crew were able to break ground on Wednesday and pray for the ongoing construction process.
2) Praise God for the conversion of the false prophet at Light of the World.
3) Pray for our trip to Nigeria and the country regarding Boko Haram.

I couldn't resist posting a picture of this adorable little girl who benefits from the GSF feeding program along with her twin brother! She's so precious.
